When we're asked about making the move to an electric vehicle, there are four key areas of concern which customers often raise. From access to charging points, to the cost of adoption, our team are here throughout your journey with us, to support you and answer any queries you may have.
Are electric vehicles actually better for the environment?
A complex argument, but Government studies have shown that yes, EV’s reduce the environmental impact of motoring. At their best they are powered by renewable energy tariffs, at which point the positive impact is indisputable.
I thought electric vehicles were more expensive?
While EVs tend to retail at a higher price than a petrol or diesel vehicle, there are numerous savings through fuel and ongoing running costs that need to be taken into consideration. As EV technology improves, and production levels increase, the costs are continuing to decrease. What is more, as discussed above, the current UK tax regime is incredibly preferential to EVs.
I don't have a driveway or charging access
While it is preferable to have an at-home charge point for ease of powering up your car, there are many publicly accessible charging units around the UK. It’s important you understand the differences between the charging units available so you can plan how long you may need to leave the car for.
The UK just isn't ready for electric vehicles
In autumn 2021, the UK Government announced their full 2030 Net Zero Strategy in advance of the start of #COP26. Within it they made pledges to increase investment in EV infrastructure and early indications are that it is a core priority area for ongoing investment and policy. By 2035, all new car sales will be fully electric, so the Government commitment is now clear.
